Advent: Behold Day 5

Behold in Action

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29 ESV

John the Baptist’s “Behold!” reminds us God’s best news extends beyond Christmas. The news is so good John couldn’t keep silent. He was on fire for the Lord, calling in the desert to prepare a way for the Lord. Amazing news that God has provided the lamb, the sacrifice we need to make. Such good news opens our mouths, too. Can you really help yourself and keep silent about the greatest gift ever?

Now it’s time to tell someone that Jesus is the hope of the world and bring that hope to them in humble service. “Behold!” - Each day this week, share one story from your month’s Advent celebration. Focus on the impact you’ve seen in yourself and on the people you care for. Point to Jesus as the foundation for Christmas. Don’t be surprised if someone asks how you got started.

Your daily action in living like Jesus isn’t over when the decorations get packed up. Have a conversation with God, thanking Him for the blessings He has brought your way. Open your heart again to the movement He is prompting in your life. Pray for a network of people you can encourage and share with in this active way of being more like Jesus – perhaps people in your family, your kids or your small group.

Prayer: Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit that I may be unable to stop from proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ! Amen.
