Foolish Things Christians Believe: My Death Is Not Final Day 2

Scientific Proof
Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? Corinthians 15:12 ESV

Science teaches us, this is all there is. When this life is over, it's over. This theory makes death the greatest enemy.

People with a science based world view consider life after death talk to be foolishness. The functions called life fail at a cellular level. Irreversible decay sets in. You can prove death, but a return of life - that’s unthinkable because it hasn’t been proven.

And yet, according to eyewitnesses, it has! Paul recounts the lengthy list of proof in his letter to the people of Corinth “...and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.” 1 Corinthians 15:5-8 ESV

In our culture, people operate with a variety of definitions of truth. If it’s on Facebook it must be true. If it’s not on CNN it didn’t happen. We have to hear Paul’s evidence in the truth assessment of his day. He lists witnesses by name. He builds the case with numbers. He tops it off with his own personal testimony. Would that meet a truth assessment today?

Do you know someone who looks for truth in provable data? Give them your time and listen to them. Listen for what criteria of truth they live with. Consider carefully how you could offer them proof of Jesus’ resurrection. Pray for guidance.
