Not Everyone Who Says 'Lord, Lord' Will Enter The Kingdom

Topic: Truth Passage: Matthew 7:21–7:23, Matthew 7:15–7:27

What truly makes a Christian? Is it belief in right doctrine? Is it living a moral life? Is it serving the poor? Or is it, at its heart, something else? That is what is at the heart of this tough saying from Jesus. In Matthew 7:21-23 and its surrounding verses, Jesus highlights the fact that the difference between who is in the kingdom and who is not isn’t a matter of good people versus bad people - moral people versus immoral people. No, the difference is between a Christian who loves God for God and a religious person, who loves God (and others) for themselves.
